December

I must admit I've enjoyed a few days break from blogging but I thought it was time to show you what we've been up to

One of the joys of not having to work any more is being able to put the Christmas tree up on the first of December instead of the first weekend of December. We had Xmas music on, wore matching Xmas pants that Carly made for us all and had amazing home made food.

Some of you may recognise this door from last year, and the troublesome visitor that comes through it at this time of year.

This little bugger is called Dash and tend to make a mild nuisance of himself whilst "keeping an eye on the children" for Santa. He's our home made answer to the elf on a shelf hysteria, but I think our little chap is far less creepy looking than the actual elf on a shelf

Most days they find him in a new location doing something strange, he seems quite fond of hitching a ride on things or climbing up to places he shouldn't.

We've also been making some new hand made decorations for the tree with the little ones

The kids loved getting hands on with the clay

Just need to let them dry before we paint them and hang them up

We love getting in the festive spirit, but Christmas doesn't have to equal consumerism

    1. They do seem to grow so fast, I see photos/videos of the children from last year and can't believe how much they've changed!

  2. Seeing you all in your snowman trousers has really got me feeling festive now. What a lovely few days you've had. It's such a special time to spend with the children isn't it? We spent the afternoon making the parts for our gingerbread house, to be constructed and decorated another day. We're also going to be making some clay decorations. Such a great idea. X

    1. we managed to hardly break any decorations at all this year, just the one glass bauble I think, not bad with the littluns!

  4. Good Christmas time. I've put mistletoe up (thar just to get extra kisses) but with a ten month old I'm in no hurry to put the tree up. I don't like our trees odds! Love the decorations you've made!

    1. this was the first christmas in about a decade that I haven't had to wage war against the cats pulling the tree down

  5. Christmas is a great family holiday. We don't do much for it anymore. If we put up a tree my ferrets climb up in it and bring it crashing down in the middle of the night. Still, it's a peaceful time, isn't it. Your kids sure look happy. You and the wife are doing a good job of parenting.

    1. That's such a lovely comment, thank you Harry it means a lot to us. Kids don't come with an instruction book so I guess we can each only try our best. the ones that don't try don't deserve kids but I guess that's a different rant for a differe time

  7. Fab family photos TW! Well done making your own Elf On The Shelf; it has become a booming industry I think although we never joined in with that. I need to try some clay work; your little ones look like they really enjoyed themselves. Our tree is up and will be dressed today, eeeek!
