November Challenge Day 2 and Other updates

2nd of November!

I guess spending the last 10 years doing a desk job and not doing regular workouts has left me pretty unfit!

Feeling the first day of the challenge already in muscles I never knew existed, but in a totally good way.

Really looking forward to getting stuck in with day 2, here's the link:

When we moved in to the cave house some of the doors were missing and had curtains where the door ought to be (including the bathroom door!), when we looked at the frames they were riddled with woodworm:

In some places you could push your finger straight through the wood and it just disintegrated, so we've been busy ripping them out and replacing them with some beautiful reclaimed traditional Castilian doors.

I've also been busy baking again, I've made more of the Enriched White Loaf (left) and also tried out a Caramelised Red Onion and Red Leicester Loaf (right)

I had to substitute the red leicester for a weird Spanish orange cheese that claimed to be cheddar, but it was still delicious and had the perfect texture

Here's the recipe if anyone wants to have a crack at it themselves

see you all bright and breezy tomorrow for day 3 of the November Challenge

  1. The breads look delicious. We're heading into "baking season" in this part of the globe and I'm sure looking forward to it.
Hubby laughed when I said I wanted to do yoga---but I think he doesn't realize just how much exercise that really is.

    1. I didn't really think it was much exercise either until I started doing it, surprising how some of the movements look really simple but make the muscles wobble when you try to do them yourself lol

  2. Not into Yoga but I do like some Tai Chi I find it helps with my balance which sometimes is not good ( leave that for another day) I love those doors, doors with character :-)

    1. Homemade anything is usually better than "off the shelf", providing it all goes according to plan of course haha

  4. Love the beautiful door but shouldn't the landlord be doing this? The bread looks delicious!

    1. funny you should mention, the landlord agreed to pay for the doors if we got a receipt and we said we'd fit them free of charge, although now that they are fitted they have changed their mind and seem to recall saying they wouldn't pay for them! the cheek

  6. Love the Spanish carved wood doors, but I love all wood. Hubby can't eat cheese so we make loads of Italian herb bread.
