FAST FIVE + Day 11

For this weeks Fast Five I want to spend 5 minutes talking about how life has changed recently.

As most of you know I recently quit my rat race job in the UK and moved to Spain. Out here our overheads are so much lower that we can afford to work from home on our own businesses Thor's Threads and Lucky Sew and Sew. This means I can spend all day every day with the kids instead of only getting to see them for an hour or two at bedtime.

Now that I have the time, I LOVE getting out and about with the kids, taking photos and making memories with them. This week we took them out on a hike in to the mountains up a dry riverbed, I don't normal do videos and this is exactly why:

I think we can all agree that I am better seen and not heard, so to make up for the awful videos here's some snaps of us on the walk

Carrying the littlest girl is like having the best backpack in the world, she wraps here arms around me for cuddles and now and again I get the sweetest little kisses on my back, she loves her Dadda.

And of course my little partner in crime Logan is never far away, he does such a good job hiking up the riverbed and climbing up the rocks pretending to be various superheroes,

But even little heroes legs get tired sometimes and need to be carried for a little while to let their batteries recharge

The hike ended at the quarry halfway up the mountain, the sheer scale of the excavation up here is pretty astonishing, you're not really allowed in to the quarry so we only snuck a peek

Rori wasn't too interested in the quarry, she spent the whole walk looking for rabbits but we didn't see any, perhaps her constantly calling "Rabbit, wer ah yuuuuuu?" scared them off

By that time Logan was ready to head home so we started the walk back,

we stopped off and fed the horses on the way, Logan took some photo's of them on his new little camera so I can't wait to get it plugged in the laptop later and find out if he got any good pics

If you're still with us for the 30 Days of Yoga then here's the Day 11 session, get stuck in!

30 Days of Yoga - Day 11

Make sure you swing by Amy's Five on Friday party and share the love on the link below. I'm thinking about setting up a weekly linkup in the New Year if it's something people are interested in, just need to organise a few more things for it

  1. Your accent isn't that bad! I'd still watch any videos you made. I've heard get worse on YouTube.
Nothing like spending times with the younglings, I'm always glad I changed my lifestyle when I did. I've had an amazing few years spending loads of times with my kids and I wouldn't change it for any amount of money. Good on you!

    1. It is awesome spending time with the littluns. don't get me wrong sometimes they drive you to insanity but then they'll say something that totally melts your heart. Badass Dads Forever!

  2. You have a lovely voice, I think we are all too self critical, I keep saying about doing more videos but I too hate my voice, what are we like :-) I hope you do more

    1. There's probably a scientific reason that everyone hates the sound of their own voice and thinks it sounds different when recorded, I might have to google it

  3. Absolutely nothing wrong with your accent! I think we all hate hearing our own voices as they are never how we imagine in our heads! Thanks for your message this morning about the card swap. If you email me on textiles@ginaferrari.co.uk we can swap addresses.

  8. Nothing wrong with your accent, you should hear mine (west coast of Scotland!!) Love that you had the courage to put your family first, beats the shit out of having to do something you don't believe in

    1. Exactly! I'd rather fail at something I believe in than succeed in being miserable for the rest of my life. I know this can't go wrong, but if it did I'd have no regrets, at least I can say I tried

  9. As a Southerner, I've got a strong accent too. Yours sounds great. If you were single you could come here and the girls would be all over you with that accent. My UPS man is from Ireland, and he says he never wants for female companionship because of his accent!

I liked your video a lot. Gives a better impression of you than words can, although your still pictures were really good too.

I'm sure glad things are going so well for you and the family.

    1. Thanks Harry
As it happens I have a younger brother that has just had a visa granted for his American sweetheart to come live in the UK with him so they can get married, so it seems the girls out there don't mind our accent too much at all ;)

Unfortunately I myself have never visited the US, but if ever I do find myself in your neck of the woods I'll be sure to catch up with you over a beer

  10. It's lovely to put a voice to a face, we all have accents of some sort or another. I'm surprised how Cornish I sound on video, I don't sound like that at all in my head. Would be great to see more vlogs of you and your lovely family.

    1. I think that's what does it, we never sound the same on tape as we do in our mind. Also one of the reasons that people often think that a photo of them is not great is because we're used to seeing our image reversed in the mirror so when we see it the right way round it looks odd to us. funny huh?

  11. Nothing wrong with the accent. Over here a LOT of people comment on my accent. I sometimes don't like talking just for that fact. Lol. Great to see you out and about having fun. There is nothing better than time spent with kids. Enjoy it while they are young - time passes so quickly!

    1. When I first moved to Essex I got loads of comments on how I had a Northern accent (despite being a midlander) but my accent changed over the years I lived there, so now when I go back home they say I've picked up a southern accent, just cant win!
