Goodies Galore

I've been bitten by the dehydrating bug again so the dehydrator has been going most days/nights this week. I've done tons of plums, bananas and tried some raspberries but they didn't go too well, they had been frozen first so I'm not sure if that was the reason they went gooey rather than drying up.

The postman dropped off some 1L Kilner Sterilock top jars as I'm hoping to try my hand at some fermented foods, I think I'll start with Sauerkraut and maybe Kimchi and see how I get on from there

This is a fox totem Tshirt we did for one of our customers through Thor's Threads, the camera didn't catch how vibrant the colours are so it doesn't really do it justice

Another goodie we got this week was a couple of water infusers

They're great for flavouring water and keeping track of how much water you've had in a day. Normally I drink a lot of squash which is essentially poison so hopefully this will get me drinking more water instead

I also got a Kindle Fire tablet this week, I'll be using it mainly to keep up with podcasts and blogs and the wealth of free ebooks on Amazon. I've been playing with it today and think I might even uninstall facebook from my phone and only use the kindle for FB so that I'm not constantly distracted by notifications when I'm out and about.

And this last one won't be to everyone's taste....you can see a glimpse of it in the photo above...I have had my fingers tattooed.

I've always wanted to have ink on my hands but my office job always dissuaded me from going through with it, but now I've finally taken the plunge. I think in this day and age we are passed the stage when people care what others do to their bodies. I appreciate that tattoos are not for everyone, that is why they are on my body and not theirs!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week, any tips for fermenting would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Tattoo art is so beautiful these days, both my daughters have them. I also had one many years ago, and 20 years later at my age, I still love it, it sums up who I am. Glad you now have the freedom to be who you want to be.

    1. so many people say "they look good now but what will they look like when you're an old man?"
I can only imagine they'll still look awesome, they are a road map of the places we've been and the tales we have to tell

  2. I also have the same water infusion bottle. I like lemon and lime.

Love the Tshirt, the design is really good.

Did the tattoo on your hands hurt when it was done? My friend asked me to go with her when she had an octopus etched on to the inside arch of her foot. she said it is the most painful one she had done, all her others didnt bother her.

  3. I like the look of those infusiers. I drink a fair bit of squash so might not be a bad idea for me as well. I'm going to get the dehydrator going again this week, I've had great success with raspberries but I tend to cook with them afterwards.

  5. I always think fruit looks so pretty sitting in a dehydrator. I've never had luck with smaller berries, like raspberries or blueberries. I was hoping to "master" the blueberries, as they are outrageous in price to buy. Mine come out like BB's!

    1. i'm terrible, if something doesn't come out right I won't bother trying to do it again. maybe I should give raspberries another try to see if I can get the nack

  6. I was looking at the water infusers last week and thought they might work well with dehydrated citrus fruits, they had them in the sale at Wilkos, I am not a squash lover.
